The development of a new elementary school resulted in the need for a new road connection on a two-lane city arterial in Redding, CA. OMNI-MEANS performed detailed modeling and a feasibility analysis for the roundabout alternative, which demonstrated that a modern roundabout would provide better traffic operations than a signal, as well as handle the extreme traffic volume variation associated with a school. Detailed stage construction and traffic handling plans were prepared resulting in minimal delays to the traveling public during the construction. Construction was completed in Spring 2010 for a total project cost of less than $1.0 million.
